Community Camera Program

Community Watch Team

Do you use an external video security system or a doorbell camera such as Ring ® at your home or business? If you do, we invite you to register for the Community Watch Team’s Community Camera program.

What is Community Camera? It’s a voluntary police/community partnership with homeowners, renters, and business owners intended to let our officers know where cameras are active in the city in case a crime occurs. It will be used for active police surveillance and officers will not have direct access to anyone’s camera. If crimes occur nearby, you may not always know that your system could have captured information that could be critical in solving a crime.

Those who register may be contacted and asked if they are willing to help out if a crime occurs in the vicinity of the camera. Information voluntarily provided by residents and businesses will be maintained in a secure database, that the Coon Rapids Police Department has classified as non-public or confidential. You may ask to be removed from the Community Watch Team and/or the Community Camera Program at any time and have your information removed from the database.

Participants will be provided with a sticker that can be placed on their door or window to help deter crime and let people know you are a proud Community Watch Team member.

Register your video camera system when you sign up to be a Community Watch Team member.
