Joe Yund
Sports Anchor
yund@ctnstudios.com

Joe grew up in Minneapolis and went to Southwest High School where he played hockey. After graduating from college in May of 1997, Joe moved back to the Twin Cities to pursue a career in sports broadcasting. In August of that year he was hired by the City of Coon Rapids to do play-by-play for Cardinals sports.

After two years of covering the games, Joe helped CTN add a half-hour sports show to its line-up. Sportsnight is broadcast live every Monday night at 7:30 and replays throughout the week. Joe also worked for Cable 12 in Brooklyn Park as a general-assignment reporter for a year and a half before taking a job with KMSP. He works as an associate producer for KMSP's morning show "Good Day Minnesota". That gives him some pretty interesting hours. Joe works from 3 to 8am every morning at KMSP and comes to work at Coon Rapids at least three nights a week.

Joe lives in Eden Prairie with his wife, Charlotte, his dog and two cats. In his spare time, which isn't very much, Joe enjoys watching, playing and reading about sports. He's also a member of a motorcycle racing club at Brainerd International Raceway. One weekend a month during the summer, Joe goes to the race track and is a volunteer worker during motorcycle races.

Joe really enjoys what he does for the City of Coon Rapids and says he is very thankful that the community has been so supportive of everything he does. He says although he gets a lot of the credit, most of it should go to his incredible technical staff. "It's a team effort, without them I couldn't do anything", he says. "But I'm happy that people like what we do and most of all I'm glad the kids are able to get this kind of exposure. Because when it's all said and done, it's all about the kids."

When asked about a most memorable moment at CTN Joe said he couldn't single one out.  Some of the better moments include the seven overtime marathon hockey game against Champlin Park in 2000, the football team's win over Stillwater, also in 2000, the girl's soccer team's trip to the Metrodome, the baseball team's trips to Midway Stadium, and this year's overtime thriller against Osseo in the playoffs.  "Really every chance I get to do Cardinal sports is special" Joe says, "it's so nice to have a job you're excited about and love to do."
