City Connections is...
City Connections airs monthly, beginning on the 15th of each month. This show was created to help the citizens of Coon Rapids find out more about what's new in our city government as well as learn safety tips to keep their families safe.
Programs generally consist of three segments including a monthly segment from both the Fire and Police Departments, as well as a segment from another city department chosen at random. All the departments work to present their monthly topics in layman's terms and try to showcase topics of interest in a timely manner. In essence, it's what's going on in your cities departments that you want and need to know about.
Topics have included:
- Fire safety with attention to prevention
- Home and personal safety & security
- The city budget
- Water treatment
- Senior center activities and much more.
We hope to present these topics in a pro-active way to keep you and your family safe and well informed.
Kevin Smith
- Host of the Police Department Segment
- Been with the Coon Rapids Police Department since 1987
- Was a patrol officer for 12 years
- Promoted to Sergeant in 1999
- Has also spent time in the Detective Division of the Coon Rapids Police Department.
Chuck Fleury
- Host of the Fire Department Segment
- Has been with the Coon Rapids Fire Department since 1994
- Worked as Paid on Call for six years before becoming full time in 2000.
- Became Fire Prevention Specialist in 2006
- Works on the North Metro Chemical Assessment Team and is specially trained as a Haz-Mat Technician
