'Love My Pet Fair' Goes to the Dogs

For the last three years, Coon Rapids pet lovers have turned out in full force for the "Love My Pet Fair" event, bringing their favorite four-legged friend along for a day of interaction, play and fun.

When it comes to Hollywood icons…

"This is Humphry Bogart," says Debbie Smith, Pet Trick Contest Winner.

Few can top the Casablanca star, but this Humphrey is up for the challenge.

"We do a K-9 dance actually, so we dress up in costumes and dance together," says Smith.

And with that performance, Humphrey Bogart claimed first place in the “Love My Pet Fair" talent competition.

From Bogart to paw art, and an area created just for kids.

"This year we have the children's activity center where we have all sorts of art going on, reading with Winnie the Pooh, we have the paw art and face painting, and just engaging the whole family, not just the family dog, but the whole family and that was a goal this year," says Liza Brazelton, event organizer.

One of the many highlights of the event was the performance by The Far Out K-9 Flying Disc Experience, where the four-legged friends flipped for frisbees.

"It opens up such a huge world when you take them out to events like this, they get to meet new people, new dogs, there's all sorts of new smells that we don't even know about that they're now open to, and it makes their world bigger and we're all for that," says Mickey Bruzek, The Far Out K-9 Flying Disc Experience.

In a dog eat dog world, this event shows that every dog truly has its day.

Donations were also collected at the "Love My Pet Fair" to provide relief to animals in need following Hurricane Harvey.
