The Coon Rapids Police Department added an embedded mental health professional in 2021.
While on-duty, Amanda Terwey is partnered with a police officer and responds to calls involving mental health, substance use and homelessness. She also follows up on calls that happen during other shifts.
The position, which is split between the Coon Rapids Police Department and the Blaine Police Department, is the first of its kind in Anoka County and is funded by a two year grant.
